Those of you who voted on my ‘Vote the winner’ poll were right on the money. The poll predicted that it would be close between Whiteboy and Hoopz, with Hoopz winning. Megan finishing third and Real coming in fourth. Great job with the voting.

Hoopz Wins It All

Fuse TV has decided to add a few original shows to their lineup that are based around music. Redemption Song is one of those shows. The concept of the show is a good one but the reality based format may overshadow the music, which is what Fuse is all about.

About the show:

Eleven female singers with bad attitudes, hard-partying ways and troublemaking pasts compete against each other and themselves to win a recording deal with Fuse/Geffen Records and achieve music stardom.

Each week, the women compete in a series of outlandish, transforming challenges, from performing at a Sweet 16 to being grilled by a publicist about their past, ultimately resulting in one girl sent packing. Only the strongest will be redeemed and given the opportunity of a lifetime.

Craig J. Jackson warns our final four money-lovers that this week’s challenge is going to get crazy!

Finale synopisis:

The four remaining players compete for the final paymaster position in the scariest, high-flying challenge yet. Set above the enormous cliffs of Huatulco, the finalists go all out while their hearts beat out of their chests.

Later, the house erupts as contestants make their final pleas to stay in the game. The paymaster faces the most difficult decision so far; one that will test the strongest alliance in the game and potentially end a friendship forever.

After an elimination ceremony, the final three must stand before a jury of their peers, a jury that will ultimately decide which two players will compete for the cash in the final challenge. Then, in an exciting, neck and neck race all throughout Mexico, the two finalists battle it out and lay everything on the line for a quarter of a million dollars.

You have to admit that Paris Hilton is a smart business woman. To hype her new reality show ‘Paris Hilton’s My New BFF’ she chose to release her new single ‘My BFF’ on the same day as her show premiered on MTV. My BFF is a techno inspired number which she co-wrote with her boyfriend Benji Madden from Good Charlotte. This is the first single off her second album which is due out later this year. It will also become the shows theme song. When I listen to it, I find myself craving pink colored cotton candy. I have no idea what that’s supposed to mean.

Did this show just end early? Seems odd to have a season finale after only four episodes and with 6 groups still left. Anyway, the remaining 6 groups performed one last time. It figures that on the final show everyone would look and sound great. Where were these performances in the first 3 episodes?

This week we saw yet another former sweet 16er who has been spoiled to the point of being helpless. The show begins with a quick review of Meleny’s sweet 16 18 birthday party. Apparently Meleny hasn’t changed much since then, she still expects to be taken care of because she is the prettiest in the family. Her dad is concerned that she can’t take care of herself and decides to Exile her for a week to the snowcapped Andes Mountains in Peru.

Meleny has been the worst sweet 16er to be exiled so far. She started crying the moment she got there and commented to the camera how dirty and ugly she found the people. Things went downhill from there. She whined about having to help gather wood for cooking. She almost gagged when she saw how ugly the potatoes she was going to eat looked. And to make things worse she wanted to refuse to eat because her host sister had the nerve to touch the food with her bare hands. Obviously, she has never been in the kitchen when her mom was cooking dinner. You can’t prepare food without touching it.

The girls then went to the river to gather water and Meleny’s ugly, spoiled side came out with a vengence. Helen, her host sister, told her to be careful and not spill the water she was carrying. Meleny didn’t want to carry the water and deliberately spilt some of it, telling Helen to carry the water. I loved Helen when she dumped the rest of the water and ordered her to go back to the river and get more. Meleny threw the bucket down and refused so Helen told her she would not eat if she didn’t do it. Reluctantly, Meleny did as she was told.

I would have had a problem with what happened next. It seems guinea pig is a special treat in the mountain area of Peru. To honor Meleny, Helen grabs a cute little guinea pig and kills it with her bare hands. She then cleans off all the hair which caused Meleny to scream with fright. Helen cooked the little pig specially for Meleny, who took the tiniest bite she could and then refused to eat more, which offended Helen.

The next morning Meleny woke up feeling sick and was told by a doctor that she was suffering from altitude sickness. By day five she was feeling better and had fun doing what she loves; hair and makeup. The next day she ran and laughed with the llamas and partied at a special ceremony hosted by the family before heading home.

Back home her family say she has improved a lot. She enrolled in nursing school but I doubt she remained since the job of a nurse is to deal with touching people you might not want to. Her father says she started her own business, but her sister made it sound like she and her mom take care of the business and Meleny stops by and volunteers to help out sometimes. All in all, I doubt Meleny changed. As long as she can be daddy’s little girl, why would she?
